Traffic Light Emotion Flips - Red, Yellow, Green

Want an easy way to communicate without needing to verbalise?

Traffic light flips enable children to communicate their understanding of a topic (or their feelings) directly, visually and confidently.

In a home setting these can be used to help express how they are feeling about a situation, something that needs to be done or their general wellbeing.  A very simple, easy way for them to express it without needing words.  

Educational settings might use them by having all children start with the green face and they keep this at their table to communicate that they fully understand (GREEN). As soon as they find that they only partly understand the change the flip to YELLOW. If they don’t understand they change the fan to RED.

In this way, a teacher can instantly and clearly see when a child requires additional support or input and the child feels more confident as they can communicate their level of understanding and receive help quickly, quietly and unobtrusively. Traffic light flips can be used with individuals, for small groups or as whole class sets.
